Founding attorney, Laura Smittick, was an engineer at General Motors for many years before she decided to pursue a law degree.  Laura decided to become an attorney when she saw how a legal dispute between family members impacted her entire family.  Since becoming an attorney, Laura has helped many mid-South families avoid the common pitfalls that can occur when someone they love becomes ill or passes away.  At Smittick Law, we are committed to providing committed, compassionate, counsel to our clients.  We help hard-working people to protect their assets and create a legacy. 

Attorney Smittick is a graduate of the Cecil C. Humphreys School of Law at the University of Memphis. Ms. Smittick worked at the University of Memphis Office of Legal Counsel as a law clerk while attending law school.  In addition, during law school, Ms. Smittick served as a law clerk to the Honorable Gina C. Higgins in Shelby County Circuit Court.  After graduation from law school, Ms. Smittick continued her work with the University of Memphis as a licensed attorney before clerking for the Honorable Walter L. Evans in Shelby County Chancery Court.  Ms. Smittick entered private practice at the Law Office of Darrell O'Neal where she focused on general civil law practice including Labor and Employment law, Employment Discrimination, Personal Injury, Probate, Contract Disputes, Worker Compensation, and more.
